Ambja Cements on Friday reported a 168 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 877.75 crore for the second quarter ended June 2007 as compared to Rs 327.49 crore for the same period last year. The total income increased by 15.77 per cent at Rs 1,513.03 crore for the June quarter as compared to Rs 1,306.91 crore in the year ago period, the cement manufacturer said in a filing to the BSE.

The board at its meeting declared a one-time special interim dividend of Rs 1.30 per equity share of Rs 2 each on account of non-recurring income. It also recommended Rs 1.20 interim dividend per equity share of Rs 2 each on account of operational perfor mance. The total interim dividend declared is Rs 2.50 per equity share of Rs 2 each. Shares of Ambuja Cements dipped by 2.09 per cent and closed at Rs 135.90 on the BSE
