It was an extremely strong session for the markets as they scaled new heights. It was an all time high closing for Sensex, Nifty and CNX Midcap. The cues from Asia and other equity markets were positive. Buying was seen in scrips across sectors.

Midcaps and smallcaps participated in the rally and made gains inline with the benchmark indices.

All the BSE sector indices closed in green. Bank, metal, FMCG and capital goods were leadiing the uptrend.

Realty and construction space was buzzing today. In the real estate space Akruti, Peninsula, Unitech, Pasvnath are among the top gainers.

Bharti Airtel, SBI, HUL, Cipla, L&T, Grasim, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, Reliance Comm were among the top frontline gainers.

Midcap gainers were Voltas, Prism Cement, Centurion BoP, Sasken, UCO, Educomp.

Sensex was up 142.25 points or 0.97% at 14806.51, and the Nifty up 43.80 points or 1.02% at 4357.55.

About 1411 shares have advanced, 1177 shares declined, and 75 shares are unchanged.

The BSE Midcap Index ended at 6,649.00 up 58 points or 0.9%.

The BSE Smallcap Index ended at 7,846.13 up 63 points or 0.8%.

The BSE Bankex was up 1.9% at 8,140.70. Centurion BoP, SBI,  Bank of Baroda, PNB, UTI Bank, Union Bank
moved upwards.

The BSE Capital Goods Index was up 0.9% at 12,536.91. Reliance Infra, BEML,  Bharat Bijlee, Greaves Cotton,  Gammon India, SKF India closed higher.

The BSE Health Care Index was up 0.2% at 3,855.95.  Sterling Bio, Orchid Chemical, Matrix Lab, Pfizer, Aventis Pharma closed higher.

The BSE Auto Index closed at 4,803.31 up 0.4%. Escorts, Apollo Tyres, Punj Tractors, Amtek Auto,  Maruti Udyog
surged. 

The BSE Metal Index closed up 1% at 10,660.22.  JindalStainless, JSW Steel,  Hind Zinc,  Sesa Goa, Jindal Steel advanced higher.

The BSE IT Index gained 0.3% at 4,879.12. Satyam, Wipro, Financial Tech, Patni Computer, Infosys advanced.

BSE Oil and Gas Index closed gained 0.5% to close at 6,213.36. Petronet LNG, Reliance, Reliance Petro ended in green.

The BSE FMCG Index ended at 1,848.36 up 1.3%. Colgate, HUL, Britannia, ITC, GlaxoSmith Con, P&G were among the gainers.

The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 10411.12 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 33917.8 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 4902.35 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 49231.27 crore.
